The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will be celebrated with a weekend of special events, inviting millions of people across the UK and the Commonwealth to join in the festivities.
Over the special Bank Holiday Coronation weekend, communities will come together through Coronation Big Lunches, thousands of street parties, and The Big Help Out. The Coronation ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 6 at Westminster Abbey, London, with tens of thousands of people expected to attend in person, and millions more watching from home around the world.
On Sunday, May 7, a spectacular Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle will showcase the country’s diverse cultural heritage in music, theatre, and dance. The concert will include “Lighting up the Nation”, where iconic locations across the UK will be illuminated with projections, lasers, drone displays, and illuminations.
For those in Derbyshire, the County Council is encouraging local residents to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III by taking advantage of grants available from the council and other sources when organizing community events.
